Prof. Vladimir Prebilič, PhD, was elected mayor of Kočejve in 2010 and is serving his second term. He was deputy major between 2003 and 2006 and member of municipal council. Between 2006 and 2008 Dr. Prebilič was appointed as a special advisor for defense issues to the Prime Minister of Slovenia.

He is member of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe since 2016. He is an associate professor at the Defense Studies department, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, and holds a BA in history and geography (1998), MSc (2001) and PhD in defense studies (2004). He lectures on the undergraduate level: Military history, Contemporary Political Systems, Defense Geography and Geopolitics on the post-graduate level.
