The Government of Georgia will host the 5th OGP Global Summit in Tbilisi, Georgia, on July 17-19, 2018. The Summit will provide an excellent opportunity for leaders from OGP’s 76 participating countries, local governments, and beyond to exchange ideas on how they are making their governments more transparent, accountable, and responsive to citizens.

Dr Mercy Tembon is the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia) since October 2015. She is responsible for leading the dialogue on economic reforms, developing the World Bank’s Country strategies, managing the portfolio of projects and technical assistance, coordinating with development partners and engaging with other key stakeholders on economic growth and poverty reduction in the South Caucasus.

Dr. Tembon joined the World Bank in 2000 as an Education Specialist, and has a track record in promoting economic growth and social development in several countries, including fragile and conflict afflicted states. Prior to her current position, she served as World Bank Country Manager for Burundi and for Burkina Faso.  She has published widely on education, gender and economic growth issues. Dr Tembon holds a Ph. D in the Economics of Education from the University of London, a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) and an Executive Education Certificate from Harvard University Kennedy School of Government.
