Promoting the Binding Agreement of Escazú: Access to Information, Participation, and Environmental Justice (Principle 10)

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

It is proposed to discuss with the public about their progress in access to information, participation and environmental justice for Latin America and the Caribbean in the Agreement of Principle 10 aproved in March 2018, which is binding and contains specific standards on these rights. Principle 10 of the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development adopted in 2012 within the framework of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio + 20), where the agenda on Sustainable Development began globally. This process was supported by ECLAC as the technical secretariat and there were 24 signatory countries of the agreement. Therefore, P10 and the SDGs are key elements to achieve not only the 2030 agenda and the SDGs, but also to seek synergies with the OGP processes in Latin America and the Caribbean.
