The Government of Georgia will host the 5th OGP Global Summit in Tbilisi, Georgia, on July 17-19, 2018. The Summit will provide an excellent opportunity for leaders from OGP’s 76 participating countries, local governments, and beyond to exchange ideas on how they are making their governments more transparent, accountable, and responsive to citizens.

Cooperation and engagement of public and civil society is at the core of good governance. Effective participation allows for development of more transparent and open policies and legislative, responsive to challenges in society. The engagement of citizens and civil society in legislative process takes a variety of forms across different countries. Thanks to the advancements in technologies, many countries are increasingly using various on-line tools and platforms, although working groups are still widely used during consultation of drafting new or amending existing legislation.

The session will discuss Croatian, Estonian, Romanian, Slovak experience and challenges with using a variety of online and offline tools and platform the citizens can take advantage of and participate in legislative making process.
