The Government of Georgia will host the 5th OGP Global Summit in Tbilisi, Georgia, on July 17-19, 2018. The Summit will provide an excellent opportunity for leaders from OGP’s 76 participating countries, local governments, and beyond to exchange ideas on how they are making their governments more transparent, accountable, and responsive to citizens.

Europe: Seizing the Opportunity to Lead on Anti-Money Laundering

The approval of the latest amendments to the European anti-money Laundering directive in May 2018 has the potential to place the region at the forefront of the fight against money laundering by embracing transparency as one of its pillars. The success of this European level agreement will be determined by the implementation of the directive, which includes the adoption of open registers of beneficial ownership. Speakers from government, civil society and business will provide their perspective on how the region can lead on AML, specifically through increasing beneficial ownership transparency, in this new context.
