Driving Action towards Gender Responsive Open Government

Open Government approaches can help to deliver more transparent, accountable and responsive governments - but for whom? In 2018, the universal right to be represented in government and to have equal access to public services is far from being a reality for women across the globe. Advancing gender equality in and through open government requires a collective shift in approaches. New research and evidence is helping to identify important areas for action, and is making the case for the impact of gender equality in open government institutions and initiatives.

This interactive learning session, co-hosted by the Government of Canada, Publish What You Pay, the UNDP, Carter Center, IDRC, and the OD4D network will provide a space for learning about approaches people have been taken to address gender issues and engage in actionable conversations on how to advance a gender responsive open government agenda around the world. Key discussion points will be captured in a collaborative document.
